My name is Alexa Monteilh and I am a freshman at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. I am in the School of Health and Human Sciences pursing a Bachelor's in Exercise Science on a pre-physical therapy track with a minor in Coaching. My first experience with physical therapy was back in middle school when I broke my tibia, fibula, and growth plate during gymnastics. Although I did not know it at the time, it was the kindness, enthusiasm and professionalism of everyone within the rehabilitation clinic that would fuel my desire to help others. In high school I was on my schools cheer and track teams so I was constantly in and out of the school's athletic trainers and sports psychologist offices. Through their support and the support of my cheer and track coaches, I grew not only as an athlete but as a person. During my senior year I had the opportunity to intern at ATI Physical Therapy and Athletico Physical therapy. My time at those clinics made me realize how badly I wanted to be in the physical therapy field.
