Monumental Kids Movement
Through my first year seminar class I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Indianapolis public school Sidener Academy where I got to help teach elementary school kids how to run a 5K. The best part of the experience was definitely being able to run the race with them after the six weeks I spent helping them prepare for the big day. Despite the freezing cold weather they kept a positive attitude the whole time and I had a great time running with them. The best part of the whole experience hands down was when we saw the finish line in sight. From there we all started sprinting and I was cheering them on to finish the race strong. Both of the kids I ran with said they were already excited to do it again next year which assures me that I made an impact on them through this amazing experience.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
Over my fall break I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Indianapolis with my sorority Zeta Tau Alpha. I got to hand out the ZTA Think Pink® ribbons to participants in the walk as well as help out in the survivors tent. In the survivors tent we helped giving out food and gifts and got to hear several stories about the effects that breast cancer had on their lives and their families'. It was such an amazing and eye opening opportunity to be able to talk to and listen to the stories of breast cancer survivors.

The second photo is from our fitness walk around downtown Indianapolis. Our peer mentor took us to the Soldiers and Sailors Monument and to get ice cream at South Bend Chocolate Cafe.

Six Word Reflection
I'd describe my first semester of college as exciting, social, stressful, overwhelming, humbling, and laughable. This semester was filled with its ups and downs but was a good learning experience and has me excited for the future.
