Theres me!
My coaches have had such an impact on my life and I could not be more grateful for both of them. They helped shape me into the leader that I am today and I highly doubt I would have developed those valuable skills without them continuously pushing me. My cheer coach, who is also a personal trainer, helped me figure out what field I wanted to be in when I first showed an interest in sports medicine. In addition, my track coach helped me realize that I wanted to pursue coaching and steered me in the right direction with networking opportunities.
Sports have been such a big part of my life. When I was young I participated in gymnastics, dance, tennis, and soccer. Middle school is when I started my career in cheerleading. Cheerleading was the first sport that I really stuck with. It taught me valuable skills such as teamwork and problem solving. My freshman year of high school I decided to branch out a join my schools track and field team to further my involvement at school. When I discovered throwing I immediately knew that it was something I didn't want to stop. Discus is something that I describe to people as my first love. What most people don't realize is that throwing is not only physically demanding but it is also a very mentally challenging sport. You only have a minute and 30 seconds to throw your implement while weighing in all these factors in order to make it fly correctly and get it to go far enough to beat your competitors. It was everything from the atmosphere of my team and the physics factors that made me absolutely fall in love with the sport.

Family is extremely important to me. My parents have done so much for me and I am grateful for them everyday. There is no right or wrong way to go through college but they both didn't take the easiest route to get where they are today. My mom went back to school when I was around 11 to get an Associates degree in Nursing at Ivy Tech then went on to get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Purdue University. Today she is a labor and delivery nurse at IU Health Hospital in Bloomington. My dad has served 9 years for the Marine Corps on active duty and spent the rest of his time as a Reservist serving in the Air Force Reserve, the Louisiana Air National Guard, and now a Master Sergeant in the Indiana Air National Guard, making that a total of 30 years he has served for the military. On top of that he is also a logistics engineer for the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division. Their work ethic truly inspires me and I strive to someday be just the same. My parents continue to be my biggest supporters and I am thankful of them more and more everyday.
Zeta Tau Alpha has become a very big part of my life after starting my college career here at IUPUI. I wasn't completely sure what I was getting myself into when I went through recruitment but I could not be happier that I went Zeta. Right off the bat my "sisters" showed me endless love and support no matter the situation. Not only are the girls amazing, but being a member of Zeta Tau Alpha also gives me great networking and leadership opportunities as well as allows me to fundraise and bring awareness towards breast cancer education and awareness which is Zeta Tau Alphas's philanthropy.
